Week 6 - The Greatest Love

Postby Gail Allen » Sun Aug 12, 2018 10:58 pm

Taj Mahal is a great declaration of love. But we want to know what you love! To do that, we want you to write a poem about that. You can write about the first time you fell in love, your adorable pet rabbit, your undying love for funnel cakes, or anything in between. Just remember to keep everything HOL appropriate. It must be at least 15 lines OR 100 words, whichever comes first.

Post your description below to get a piece of this week’s password for the Treasure Hunt, and, of course, earn yourself 10 beans (+5 beans if it is handed in before the 19th of August). If you would rather not share your creation below, please send it to ravenclawevent @ gmail.com (no spaces) with the title "Week 6 - The Greatest Love" and we will be sure to get you some beans!

On the granite mountain ridge
Seeing openness on both sides
falling into the valleys below.
Feeling the openness and space
of the clear air, the trees, the granite itself.
Following the narrow path
Which is steady and firm
And looking down on tree tops as they rise from the ridges of the valleys
Far far down.
What fun.
Life.
This I love.
The air, the space, the love of the planet for her children
for me.
Love.

Shhh!
Do you hear that?
Shhh!
There it is again!
It seems many years have past
since I had heard it last!

Shhh!
Are you listening?
Shhh!
I can't believe our fortune!
It took so long to appreciate,
but now I think it's great!

Shhh!
What is it?
Shhh!
A sweet, sweet sound!
Like an act of defiance,
there is nothing but golden silence!

A dog is something marvelous,
A dog is something amazing,
It is unique,
And it can be funny.

What is the point of having dog?
It is the source of undying love,
Source of different love,
True and powerful,
Always loyal.

Every dog is funny,
Every dog is brave,
It would do anything for true owner,
True owner would do the same,
This is true love.

You are a draining pursuit, I know
An eater of time, a source of stress,
Sometimes, I give too much and get less.
But you are a wonder too, of course
Home, family, an easy place to be
A refuge for many more than me.
You reveal talents, hone secret skills,
nurture self-belief, bring out of shells,
Teach something far more potent than spells.
Some stay for a while, longer even
Others rest and then quickly pass through,
Lengthy or fleeting, One thing rings true.
It’s indefinable yet always there,
within these abstract towers and walls:
Friendship is the magic in these halls.

Moose

You wake me up each morning,
Probably because you’re tired of me snoring.
We get up and you eat your bowl of food,
No matter what that always brightens your mood.
Then the ball I put away the night before,
Somehow ends up with you by the back door.
Drop. Throw. Chase. Retrieve. Repeat.
Over and over I don’t know how you’re still on your feet!
We play fetch until it’s time for me to go,
And you don’t understand why I no longer throw.
I’ll see you at the end of the day,
And we’ll get to cuddle again and play.

Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
