I found a couple of really big shells, sea shells; they look like clam or abalone and large. They're rather pretty with a silvery pink tint to the smooth inside surface and are pebbled and rough looking on the outer surface, sort of cream and grey and white. The smaller of the two can scoop sand into the larger one laying in a slight depression (to more easily scoop it in). As for collecting the sand gathered, I've a medium-sized towel onto which the sand can be loaded. It's large enough to hold quite a bit of sand in the middle of it, and still have sufficient edges and corners to keep the sand from falling out and to carry it.
