Summer - Task #12. - “End of Year Prank”

Postby Mia Fountain » Tue Nov 15, 2022 12:44 am

At the end of each school year the Heat and Snow Misers have a pranking competition between the two groups as a way to unwinds and have fun. The goal is to out prank the other team, whether by affecting more people or a larger area of the castle, or having the funniest or most creative prank.

Last year the other team won by pranking the entire student body of the school the morning of the leaving feast, so that everyone's hair changed between the colours of the rainbow every few minutes and caused the volume of their voices to change from shouts to whispers every half an hour.

Task:
Before we get to pulling the prank we have to plan the best prank to pull. Write about your plans for the perfect end of year prank in 100 words or more.

I'm not much of a prankster but my favorite pranks to pull are silly, simple ones. Hiding behind doors or around the corner to jump scare a friend as they walk by. Putting whipped cream on a hand of a sleeping person and then tickle their face with something so they smack themselves with the cream on their hand.

I think a good prank would probably take some work but switching out everyone's robes and ties to a different house. Not just one house gets a different house color on their clothing but each individual person would get one. And that would be the only set of robes and only tie they'd be able to have that day as well.

I'm not sure how we'd be able to pull it off but I think it'd be hilarious.

~OOC Storytime!~

There was once a group of Year 12's...whom had nothing to do. They had written all final year exams, and it was their last one. They weren't so fond of the school, lets say a few teachers actually, and wanted revenge. Nothing could happen now, since they were never going to see them again, until they got their reports. So I, yes I, came up with a plan. Every year the Year 12's we say Matriculants, when they finished they threw color powder, eggs, anything at each other. It's all harmless fun, but what if it hit someone we didn't particularly like. We thought the powder would be safer, since throwing cat food at a teacher- Yeah anyways, the plan was this, as we were being escorted out after our last paper, one of our own, a little agent, would throw the first handful of powder. That would turn things into chaos and ultimately we would end up throwing the powder at the teachers we didn't like.

It was a splendid day because yes it worked.

One fun prank I can think of is food related: putting an enchantment on the food served in the breakfast or lunch of the leaving feast so that each food tastes like something different from what it actually is (e.g. the eggs taste like porridge, the porridge tastes like bacon, the bacon tastes like toast, and the toast tastes like eggs). And we could do something similar with the drinks (maybe the water tastes like pumpkin juice, pumpkin juice tastes like coffee, coffee tastes like orange juice, and orange juice tastes like water). It should be important to note that the prank wouldn't change the essence of the food themselves (or its appearance); just how it tastes. And of course it's important that we do not want to apply this type of prank on Leaving Feast food itself; the food of the feast itself is to be properly enjoyed!

I am not really the type of person who enjoys taking part in pranks. There is always the chance that something goes wrong, or the prank itself goes too far. For example, I remember one year at school the final year students put wheelie bins and a bathtub on various classroom block roofs, as well as putting up road signs and ‘For Sale’ signs all over the campus. This was incredibly dangerous as no-one should have been able to get up to the roofs, and the school had to pay a company to come and get the objects down. All of the signs had been stolen, so the staff did think about getting the police involved. After that year, the students were much more heavily supervised when setting up their final day displays, and were heavily encouraged to just decorate the school, rather than play pranks.

Since each year ends with a lovely display of food and celebrations for the winning house, I myself would propose swapping out some of the delicacies of foods on the table for some more ‘joke-like’ items to start the activities with a laugh. Something such as the self-propelling custard pies or the nose biting tea cups. Imagen someone trying to eat these and having them propel out of reach or out of hand, or have a drink of their tea and have your nose get a nibble. Perhaps even unleash some weather in a bottle to change up the scene in the great hall for a last laugh. I myself am not one for pranks, this I would find funny.

I'm definitely not a prankster - particularly because I don't enjoy having pranks played on me as well, and I know that if I do that to others, then I can't complain about people pranking me in return. However, if I were hard-pressed to come up with a prank for the end of the year, I would likely see if there is any type of shampoo that makes one's hair invisible to the own person for a limited amount of time.

When we think about the end of year, we frequently think about parties and all sorts of social events, and I believe that people would go crazy if they looked at their own head and thought that they looked bald. I wouldn't want people to suffer for a long time, though, so it would be perfect if the invisibility effect only worked for the person who applied the shampoo - they would freak out for a while, reach out to a friend and then hear that their hair still looks absolutely fine. The effect would be strong, but short-lived.

I don’t really do pranks. They tend to take a lot of time, effort and sometimes even cost for little in return. And on top of that, the laughter or joke would often come at someone else’s expense which is not something I would partake in.

If I had to do something, it would be something really pathetic like sticking googly eyes to inanimate objects. Then I would make it so that when a person enters the room, the objects with eyes would all look at the individual and keep staring at them and following them around with their gaze. However, if the person looked at the object looking at them, the object would stop staring. Think of the toys in the Toy Story movies when their owners are around- they stop and drop instantly.

Maybe I could even cast a spell on them to make the objects do something when touched or picked up. Like make it disappear and reappear on the other side of the room or it changes colour depending on how that person is feeling. There are a number of things that could be done with it that are harmless.

I agree with Anne-Marie. I am no prankster and I personally do not like pranks as it is rather easy to cross that line and make someone feel bad rather than laugh. I usually like to do jump scares as some people are just too easy to scare this way.

Do I have any ideas for a perfect prank? Maybe to be able to temporarily change the grades of my friends so what they thought was a good grade would for a few moments turn into being a really bad fail. It would switch back as soon as they would spot it.

I am also not really good at pranks, I have to admit I have never really pulled any pranks on anyone. Although I think I would use some polyjuice potion to pull a really funny prank. I would make the whole class take some polyjuice and make them look like the head teacher. Then this would make a hilarious view during the final dinner, when the head teacher shares the results of who won the House Cup and makes a summary.

I do not know if this would be possible but I guess this could have been a funny view!
