Hol pet question:

Postby Atalinn Copeii-Devilsnare » Fri Jul 19, 2013 2:15 am

How do you get your pet to not want to run away from you? I've been on hiatus on and off hol for continuous reasons that severely affect my day to day activities.

Do I have to earn points to keep it happy? How does one prevent their owl from wanting to run away from you during the summer months?

Pets are fickle creatures at best. I make a point of petting mine every day and the silly things STILL want to run away!

Points really have nothing to do with it; it's just a matter of getting on and petting it whenever you can, I believe. Oh yes, and feeding it a bean when it says that it is hungry. As long as you do that; you should be fine, even when it says that it 'wants to run away'. :)

What kind of pet is it? If it's an owl, you can always make arrangements with someone to go to the Owlry and feed it for you when you are away; that should help, too. Just don't forget to send them some beans to help cover the cost. :)

Thanks. I usually pet it once to twice a day. My owl never says its hungry though... But it's happy. :/ idk, just a pain I guess. Don't want it to run away and whatnot. Thanks Ariella!

Some s00per sekrit pet tips:

The way pets were originally set up, YOU feeding your owl, etc., adds to its stats in one way; someone ELSE feeding it adds to an entirely different stat. So if possible, and especially if you'll be away for a while, see if a friend or two can check up on your critter.

Also, feeding it a Catnip Ball (available for sale every so often in the Hogsmeade Thrift Shop) to your pet will increase every stat to max, regardless of how low they've gotten.

I have a question about pets, what exactly are they for? I was thinking of getting one, but I'm not sure what they do. Do they give you things, or is it just for show?

Hi Camila! Pets are mainly for show and add to the ambiance of HOL. So they might not give you anything more than the satisfaction of saving enough beans and taking care of them. But they are definitely a fun thing to have around. (Plus they're super cute and who doesn't like cute things?)
