Despite the resemblance of the name to the mascot of a different Houes, eagle owls tend to be kept as pets by most frequently Slytherins - who tend to prefer their majestic appearance (and find their high level of maintenance required a bit less off-putting). In my case, I had decided to take a trip to the magical district of Istanbul to celebrate a very successful summer - as well as familiarizing myself with various dialects to improve my Parseltongue class for the fall.
I was not expecting to find an avian familiar, but on a whim I decided to look around at the eagle owl shops on display and found a particularly gorgeous eagle owl, with silver-white coloration, open her bright orange eyes to look at me. It was about 5 PM - which is about the time she would normally be inclined to wake up, and before perching herself on my shoulder, she introduced herself as “Hwoot” (“Hwout” if you’re a local snake) and something immediately told me that this was absolutely the right owl for me! I returned her to her cage as I paid the twelve Galleons for her and took her out, but once dusk began to fall in a few hours, she was definitely going to fly around with me before taking a quick trip to the Asian side of the city for a snack!
