Week One - Task #04. - “Darkness Peering”

PostPosted: Mon Oct 03, 2022 11:44 pm
by Prof. Sindor Aloyarc
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, “Lenore?”
This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, “Lenore!”—
Merely this and nothing more.

Alternatively you may contribute an original Poem in 75 words or more titled “Darkness Peering” or post about a Nightmare you’ve had in the past, with the same wordcount expectations. You may choose to explain what makes this nightmare particularly chilling for you —remembering of course that this is still a family friendly community and, as always, all HOL rules apply— or reflect on what these themes may symbolize (for you personally or in general) from a dream analysis point of view, and so on.

This task is worth 15 beans, with an additional 15 bonus beans for completing all Week One tasks by end of activity. Deadline is 11:59pm (HOL time) on Halloween, Monday October 31st.

Darkness Rising

The light bled into the darkness,
the rays disappearing from beyond the horizon.
The bat opened up it's one eye,
its wings spreading as if in prayer to the moonlight.

The darkness is it's home,
it's safe place,
so he unfurled his wings
and quietly left the cave,

The darkness now peering from behind the trees,
the places where the moonlight did not touch,
this bat was curious,
it stuck to the dark,

the darkness peered back at the bat,
as the bat peered into the darkness,
it's home,
it's safe place,
it's haven.
