by Prof. Sindor Aloyarc
But the Raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing farther then he uttered—not a feather then he fluttered—
Till I scarcely more than muttered “Other friends have flown before—
On the morrow he will leave me, as my Hopes have flown before.”
Then the bird said “Nevermore.”

I am an introvert at heart, I have never liked to talk to people, let alone make friends with them when I was little. So I spent most of my former years drifting between person to person, never once forming a strong bond since I was not the best at communication. I never had the best friends, nor did I have the nicest family, so I read my books continually and I spent my time watching others.

Despite being a bit of an introvert, I don't think I have ever felt genuinely lonely until the lockdowns began in recent years. I have always been very comfortable in my own company and worked from home, so the start of the lockdown did not feel very different to me at all. However, as time passed I think that it began to get to me more and more, and I started eating less healthily and not keeping on top of household chores. Over the past year, I have made a considerable effort to start doing more with my spare time - getting out and about and meeting new people. This has really helped me to overcome these feelings of loneliness, and I have enjoyed making new friends, trying new things, and being slightly more extroverted.
