Week Three - Task #11. - “Things My Heart Used to Know”

The room full of polar bears ready to defend each other turns to chaos as they try to avoid the large, burning pieces of ceiling and fend off the monsters.

Mitri grabs you under your arms and hauls you to your feet.

“Quick!” He says, pushing you out of the way of one particularly giant chunk of falling debris.

But the Dowager Empress catches your eye again. Her beautiful white fur is relaxed, unlike the bristling fur of those around you, hollering and running frantically.

She stands proudly at the end of the room, calmly watching you with a curious expression that stops you in your tracks.

Then she does something unexpected. Still maintaining eye contact, the Dowager Empress starts to sing.

“On the wind. Cross the sea. Hear this song and remember…”

As her angelic voice fills the room, you’re astonished by two things simultaneously.

First being the scorched chunks raining down upon you halt in midair, then begin floating back up to their original places in the ceiling. Each one cools to its usual obsidian color as they settle in their spots.

The second is that you feel immediately compelled to join her singing. Without thinking, the words escape your lips as you walk in her direction while harmonizing together.

“…Soon you'll be home with me. Once upon a december.”

Even more startling, however, is that your body suddenly starts to expand after the lyrics finish.

Taller and wider you grow, and you look down to find pale, ivory fur sprouting up across your skin before vast, broad wings explode colorfully out from across your back.

Everyone present stops in complete, stunned silence before Ghastputin screaches in fury.

“No!” He yells, lurching toward you. But as you turn and to lay your eyes in his, the Dowager Empress sneak up to lay a circlet of gold on your head.

A enchanting sense of completion washes over, like you’ve just crawled into a toasty warm bed after a long day.

Ghastputin bellows out a stream of curses before his drab, sunken eyes turn suddenly scarlet, locked on your own.

With one final gasping breath, a pilar of green fire comes bursting in spirals all around the evil sorcerer.

Moments later, the fire subsides just as quickly as it rose.

Ghastputin’s body completely consumed, his soul has been dragged back to the underworld, taking all his monsters along with him, leaving behind great clouds of steam on their wake.

This task is worth 15 beans/sapphires, with an additional 15 bonus beans/sapphires for completing all Week Three tasks by end of activity. Deadline is 11:59pm (HOL time) on Thursday December 21st.
