Task 7: Talking to the Ghosts

Postby Mia Fountain » Sun Oct 15, 2023 12:59 am

The Ghosts around the school have stories to share about their pasts and the people they have met. You are trying to convince the ghosts to come tell their stories at the end of the night on October 31st, but not all of them are willing to come to the celebrations on the 31st. While speaking to the ghosts, they tell you a bit about the interesting places they have been and the events they have witnessed. Write out one of their stories below to share with everyone.

Tell one of the ghost’s stories in 100 words or more below. Alternatively, make a collage to represent the ghost's story with 4 or more images.

Post the story or collage below by October 31st at 11:59 pm HOL time to earn 10 beans. Remember to keep it G-rated. If you choose to post an image be sure to keep it 600x600 pixels or under.

Long ago, Amelia had been a kind and talkative young girl who lived in a wizarding village whose name was long forgotten. One fateful day, she stumbled upon a mysterious book, bound in rough, dark red leather. Amelia, the curious child she was, couldn't resist opening the book to see what it held.

As soon as the book cover was opened, a permanent sticky charm exploded in her face and sealed Amelia's lips together forever. She could no longer speak or make a sound until the day she passed away. The spell's effects followed her into her ghostly life, making her unable to communicate, since as a ghost, she can't interact with physical objects such as parchment and a quill.

It's a sad story, told mostly through charades, but it was the only one that Amelia remembered. With it, she hoped to spare other children the misery she went through and teach them not to open strange books.

This is the story of Isabella Thistlewood.

She was a witch who used to work as a librarian at The Esoteric Archives. She was married to her job and could think of nothing else to do but work over there. However, one unfortunate morning she fell down the stairs of her library and hit her head, which led to her untimely demise.

As she was so attached to that library, she couldn't convince herself to leave the place. Since then, she has stayed over there as a friendly ghost, helping and guiding any witch/wizard visiting the library.

There was once a fourth-year girl at Hogwarts by the name of Patricia, at some time in the 18th century. On one Halloween, Patricia was on her way to a Halloween party in another house's common room, but got stuck on a group of moving staircases, and wound up lost somewhere in the corridors of Hogwarts. Unfortunately, on this particular October 31st, some form of dark creature had been brought into the castle as part of a prank, but escaped from the mischievous students who were attempting to control it. No one really knows what the creature was, only that when Patricia ran into it, lost and alone, she was never seen alive again - although mysteriously, her body seemed entirely unharmed when she was found.

Once upon a time, in a grand castle by the sea, lived a ghost. The castle belonged to a wealthy family, and the ghost was said to be the spirit of one of the family's ancestors. It was rumored that the ghost would roam the castle at night, and anyone who saw it would surely meet a terrible fate.

One evening, a brave traveler named Jack decided to spend the night in the castle. As the night grew darker, Jack heard strange noises coming from the hallway outside his room. Suddenly, the door creaked open, and a chill ran down Jack's spine as he saw the ghostly figure before him.

The ghost glared at Jack, and a deafening silence filled the air. But Jack refused to let fear consume him, and instead, he asked the ghost what it wanted. The ghost spoke in a soft voice and revealed that it was looking for a long-lost treasure that had been hidden in the castle many years ago.

Together, Jack and the ghost went on a hunt to find the treasure. After searching the castle from top to bottom, they finally found a hidden room filled with gold coins and jewels. The ghost was overjoyed, and in return for helping it find the treasure, it blessed Jack with good fortune for the rest of his life.

From that day on, the ghost no longer haunted the castle and was at peace, thanks to the help of a kind-hearted traveler. And the castle was said to have been blessed with good luck for generations to come.
