Week Three - Task 09. - “On The Move”

Postby Katherine Laurier » Sat May 18, 2024 2:23 pm

You continuously stare at the page with the others in the committee and all the information you’ve noted down, all of you calmly suggesting possible meanings and solutions. One moment ago, it was perplexing and confusing, feeling like it was leading nowhere, and then it finally clicked.

Oh.

My.

Gosh.

“I got it!” you exclaim. “It’s an artifact we have to find.”

The committee’s eyes brighten up as they listen to your explanation, their eyes just as bright as the meteor shower which caused all of this, if not brighter. As you finish, it looks like they understand too, and you all cheer, proud of how near you are to cracking this case, finally.

Now, you take action and together, you try to find said artifact.

Task:
Start/continue a storytelling chain about a discovery. This does not necessarily have to be related to the storyline of this activity and could be something completely different! Let your creativity flow and do with ‘discovery’ what you will, whether that discovery be a tangible item or a non-material thing. The first reply may start the story, and the following replies will continue what the previous person wrote. Write at least 75 words per reply. Only one post is required to receive the full number of beans, but if you would like, you are free to post more than once. Please do not post twice or more in a row and wait for someone else’s reply before posting again.

Alternatively, have you ever experienced a time where you were confused or didn’t know something for a while, and then it suddenly clicked and what you were looking for came to you itself? Talk about it in at least 125 words. If you choose to do this alternative task, kindly send your answer in a Private Message to Katherine Laurier with the title “Week Three - Task 09. - “On The Move””.

This task is worth 10 beans. You can earn an additional 10 bonus beans for completing all Week Three tasks by Friday, May 31st, at 11:59 PM (HOL time).

Dibyarup chipped away at the large chunk of rock, and his brush started revealing a smooth, metallic disc. Etched on its surface was a swirling constellation unlike any he had ever seen. He yelled “Eureka!” in excitement. This wasn't just another artifact, it was a celestial map, one that spoke of long-forgotten celestial objects, some even had magical significance. He excitedly continued to chip away at the rock, and asked his friends to join in as well. They were so close to finding their first proper clue, something that would help them make sense of this whole ordeal. There was no time to be wasted.

As Dibyarup was chipping away at the rock containing the artefact, Adeline noticed some markings starting to be revealed on the disk that she was sure she had seen before. Where? She drew them on a piece of parchment and started scouring through the stack of research books the team had gathered in order to find anything relating to the markings. She knew it was a celestial map but there were markings unknown to the group. Knowing this might take awhile, Adeline passed books to some of the team members not chipping away at the chunk of rock to help search for answers.

Viviana took one of the books that Adeline was passing around. She had it fixed in her mind - look for anything about markings. 'Markings...markings...' she seemed to chant in her mind. Something niggled her brain. She had remembered mention of markings from somewhere, but she wasn't entirely sure if she had seen it in the books. She scanned around the area, bringing light towards the walls. The runes on the walls was something she was familiar with, it told a tale of a creator and deities, demigods and humans. She finally found what she was looking for. The markings on the disc were similar to the runes that were spinning the tale of how the cosmos were made! The first marking she could see was similar to the rune that meant the moon, the second being the rune that meant the sun...but the rest she couldn't decipher at all. It was as if someone had scratched the rest of the runes...but as she looked carefully, she came to the conclusion it was rather someone. The scratch marks consisting of not one but three largely spaced lines across the runes. It made her falter and step back, stumbling on something rather soft.
