As you are about to leave, your eyes glance upon an odd scratch shape on one of the trees’ bark. You do a double take before squinting your eyes at it. Huh.
You might be overthinking a detail that is nothing, but a forest doesn’t come out of nowhere overnight now, does it? If there was something on the bark of one tree, maybe it would mean something. A village disappearing is already a concern, a forest replacing it is another–is there another problem within this replacement that is more than meets the eye?
Your speculation is interrupted by the authorities as they gently signal for the people to back up, “Everyone, I’m gonna need you all to step away from the forest first as we investigate. You may go back to your homes now, alright?”
