Week One - Task #04. "Potion in the Produce Aisle"

Bridgeton Grocers is surprisingly magical today. You spot a rack of apples subtly rearranging themselves by color. Bananas that peel and re-peel in rhythm. And the oranges? They're glowing faintly blue.

You slip a spell detection charm past your sleeve. The scan reveals faint traces of fluxweed and doxy dust, ingredients not typically used in fruit preservation.

You follow the trail to the back stockroom. There, behind a stack of trolleys, is a shattered potion vial and a faint scorch mark spiraling across the linoleum.

This isn’t random. Someone’s testing something, and they’re not being careful.

Task:
Create and post below an Illustration for a uniquely made up potion. Please include a brief description beneath with its name, what it does, and its ingredients (which might also be incorporated into the graphic itself). Remember that all imagery posted directly to the forum must be no larger than 600x600 pixels.

Alternatively you can write in more detail about the purpose, recipe, and considerations of your Potion, using 100 words or more for full credit. You may even include made up examples of when it’s been used, effectively or otherwise!

The potion's name is Echo Echo. When successfully brewed, it allows the drinker to hear faint traces of voices that once filled the same space, broken fragments of conversations, murmured laughter, the soft hum of past gossip, or some other, more pertinent information.

The recipe calls for fluxweed harvested at the full moon, valerian root to sharpen receptive senses, powdered bicorn horn to capture memory, shavings of a bezoar to safeguard against side effects, and a single drop of honeywater to turn the echoes into sound.

The potion must be stirred counterclockwise exactly seven times, because any mistakes cause the whispers to warp into shrieks that can leave a drinker sleepless for nights. A rumour has it that a group of Ravenclaws once brewed it to help with exam revision, only to find themselves listening to days-old chatter about Quidditch scores and who fancied whom.

My potion is called Visus Vitalis and can be extremely helpful if brewed correctly. This potion can make the user see with the acuity of an eagle. Where the normal person would see a river, the user will be able to see a fish in the current.

To start the potion, you must gather the following ingredients:
Armadillo bile
Beetle eyes
Billywig stings
Runespoor eggs
Lake water

The beetle eyes and runespoor eyes must be dried completely for at least four days prior to starting the potion. Crush the beetle eyes and runespoor eyes together in a mortar with a pestle until they become a fine dust. Transfer the dust to a copper cauldron and keep the cauldron temperature at 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Add in the billywig stings whole and gently stir until coated with the dust. Add in the armadillo bile until a paste is formed. Finally, add in lake water slowly until the mixture is thinned to a water-like consistency. Remove from heat and allow it to cool naturally. Once room temperature, syphon the potion through a cheesecloth to remove any debris.

To use: instill one drop into each eye once a day.
CAUTION: instilling more than one drop or using more than once a day will cause the user to go blind for up to a week.
